Introduction

This site is devoted to the literature of ichthyology. I’ve been accumulating, acquiring, collecting ichthyological literature for over 25 years. This includes literature in nearly all forms – published reports, so-called gray literature, scientific papers and monographs and books. Antique or modern, I’m interested in it all.

On this site, I’m going to offer short reviews of whatever report, book or paper strikes my fancy on any particular day. For each item, I’ll start with a standard physical description (size, pages, illustrations, dust jacket, etc.). This will be followed by a description or short review of the contents. Finally, I’ll also offer my comments or opinions on the importance of the work, its rarity or variations I’ve seen – all sorts of issues that might be of interest to the fellow collector. Often I’ve seen a piece offered in a catalog or on-line, but the description given was too abbreviated or incomplete to give me enough information to make my buying decision. My reviews will contain just the sort of information that I would like to have when pondering a purchase.

I’ll add reviews as I have time. This weblog page gave me 10 categories among which I could divide my comments which one being “home.” I tried to divide the realm of ichthyological literature among the remaining nine – I could certainly use a few more, but we’ll see how this goes.

Enjoy.
